Introduction to Meditation

Meditation allows you to tap into your subconscious mind - and The Universe Within Us  -  to achieve quicker results.  Charles Haanel refers to meditation in the first week of his Master Key System, as does Dr Joseph Murphy in The Power of the Subconscious Mind.  In fact, all of  The Masters refer to silent prayer,  meditation, or focusing as a method of taping into The Universe Within Us.    

Even if you have never considered meditation before, you now have the opportunity to learn  from a global expert - free.  

In the past, meditation and yoga have long been associated with Buddhism.  Both are now enjoyed by people from a vast array of backgrounds and religious choices -  yoga for the physical health benefits, and meditation for the health of the mind, spirit and soul.  This website contains Masters from Baptists to Buddhists, and one who well might be an Atheist!  The messages they provide are all the same, and none of them try to convert us, only enlighten us to The Universe Within Us. Gil Fronsdal's meditation lessons are the same.  His only message is to open our eyes to the power of meditation,  and he does this wonderfully.

Gil FronsdalGil has practiced Zen and Vipassana (insight meditation) in the U.S. and Asia since 1975. He was a Theravada monk in Burma in 1985, and in 1989 began training to be a Vipassana teacher.  His history and qualifications are too vast to mention here, but he provides a overview at the beginning of his first meditation  lesson.

Several times a year,  Gil offers a 5-week instructional series for beginning meditators. These classes provide a good overview of insight meditation practice, as well as many guided meditation sessions which help the student learn how to establish and sustain a daily meditation practice. 

The five week recorded classes contain the entire class timeframe, which includes techniques, postures, overviews, student questions,  the actual meditation, and more.  This is reflected in the length of each lesson, as the majority go for over a hour and a half.  It is recommended that you practice each week's lesson for a full  week, before moving on to the following week's lesson.

Gil's extensive experience allows him to cover all areas with insight and good humour.  You will feel as though you are actually in the room as one of his students, while you proceed through each of the lessons.
